GOOD STUFF: VOL 4: LET THEM EAT CAKE

GOOD TOOLS:

Resources, Tools, Helpful Stuffs.

Utah Insurance Department: File A Complaint

Anyone battling to get coverage for an insurance claim and dealing with a substantial bill your super “progressive” homeowner’s policy decides isn’t covered (even though it totally is) needs to have this resource. There should be advocacy groups similar in other states, I hope. I had a company suddenly close a claim and refuse to take my calls, so I had to resort to opening a claim. Turns out I wasn’t crazy and the claim was reopened and covered. The claim would have taken everything (and then some) from my bank account.

save it.

GOOD VIBES:

The new hotness in music that I found this week.

Let’s Rock

Black Keys: The latest album from The Black Keys, five years since the last one. Solid.

listen.

GOOD VIEWS:

Binge to you heart’s content.

Marie Antionnette

Sophia Copella: For some reason I missed this movie when it came out. Maybe I wasn’t a huge fan of Kristen Dunst? But she’s perfect in it. The movie is probably one of the prettiest films ever, the soundtrack is awesome (The Strokes, The Cure, Souxsie and the Banshies), and it’s a prophetic tale about celebrity culture. M.A. is essentially every too-young, too-popular insta-famous, pop-culture phenom that took a huge fall for being placed on a (literal) throne, then punished when society collapsed. Also, she was 14. Or, something. It was great.

stream.

GOODNESS:

Self-care is sexy. Here’s the improvement making the rounds at Botfriendly.

Dr. Teals Replenishing Pink Himalayan Body LOTION!!!

Amazon: That’s right…the same drug-store, bath salts you’ve come to love and adore are now available as a matching scented Body Lotion! They smell like happiness. They feel like getting picked first at kickball at recess. They smell like everything is going to be OK.

Breathe.

GOOD NEWS: Need a pick-me-up?

I’ve been at my new job for one year this month. It’s been a supportive environment and I’ve learned a lot. I get to work on interesting projects, and I have lots of autonomy. I get to come in and “do the work” without drama, odd office politics, and a ton of posturing about being the coolest kid on the block. I can honestly say it’s been fantastic. We don’t have a “breakfast cereal room” or a CEO who wears skinny jeans with wild hair. It’s a job and it doesn’t define my entire life and I honestly think that’s the best thing. It’s really easy to get caught up and allow “where you work” to define you. Just do you, do your best, do a little better as you go, and be grateful.

…and here’s a cake I made. Have a great summer.
